Oogachaga is a community-based counselling, support and personal development agency for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) individuals, couples and families. We come under the umbrella of SPACES Counselling and Community Limited.
In Singapore, SPACES Counselling and Community Limited is registered as a company limited by guarantee (registration no: 200402955N) with charity status (charity no: 01812). Oogachaga is registered as a non-profit business (registration no: 53035413J).
OC is also a member organisation of International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA).
In 1999, Jason Wee, Steve Wong and Kenneth Lau started a support group for gay men in their twenties. They named it “Oogachaga”, after the dancing baby in the sitcom Ally McBeal. Just like Ally, some of us have suppressed parts of our being, that constantly pop up like a dancing baby. Only by embracing this baby can we then understand and liberate ourselves.
Better known as “OC” today, we have expanded our target group to include lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals, couples and families. Our range of professional services and outreach programmes include counselling, support groups, community workshops and professional and corporate training.
