Take Action! Building our community together!

Ever thought that you could plan a more engaging event, create a better guide book or online resource page than everyone else but never had the chance to do so? Then there is no better time than now for you to Take Action!

Oogachaga is inviting all individuals or groups who aspire to make a positive difference to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community to submit an original idea. There are no limitations to your program as long as the resources allocated for it are reasonable and practical, so let your creative juices flow! You should keep your idea simple and easy to implement.

Here's what you should know:

Who can participate?*
Take Action! is open to all individuals and LGBT formal or informal community groups. Participants must be at least 18 years old and residing in Singapore for the duration of the competition to enter this competition.

Who are the target groups?
Please submit your idea for one of the four target groups listed below:
1. Lesbian and Bisexual Women (General age range)
2. Gay and Bisexual Men (General age range)
3. Young Gay and Bisexual Men (18 to 25 years old)
4. Transgender/Transsexual People (General age range)

One winning entry will be selected from each target population.

What are the areas of interest?
Please plan your idea based on one of the following areas for your target group:
1.    Fostering community bonding and cohesiveness
2.    Raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections and sexual health
3.    Promoting better understanding of mental wellness 
4.    Educating communities about sexual orientations or gender identities

What is the deadline for initial idea submission?
The deadline for initial idea submission is 1200H on 24 February 2012.

What is the timeline for the competition?

What are the costs of joining this competition?
Participation for this competition and the proposal writing workshop are free! 

What are the benefits of joining this competition?
All individuals and groups who submit their initial ideas by 1200H 24 February 2012 will be required to attend a proposal writing workshop on 4 March 2012, 2pm to 6pm. At this workshop, the trainers will guide you in planning and writing your final proposal. This proposal will be placed online for voting and submitted for panel selection.

A $500 cash prize will be awarded to ONE winning entry in each of the four target population groups. 

In addition, winners or winning teams will each receive up to $1000* in seed funding in 2012 for them to implement their ideas. The winners will also be able to get technical and logistic support from Oogachaga for their project implementation.

What are the documents required for eligibility for seed fund?
(ONLY for winners of the Final Proposal submission)

a. Evaluation form (to be handed out to target audience and used for feedback)
b. 1-page A4-sized Post-Program Report (Arial, font size 12 or equivalent)
c. 1-page A4-sized Expenditure Report (Arial, font size 12 or equivalent)

Note: (b) and (c) should be submitted to the Organiser within 30 working days from the completion of the program or date agreed by both parties. 

What are the selection criteria?
The selection of the winning submissions is based on:
a.    50% panel selection
b.    50% online voting by the communities

The selection panel will grade the final proposal based on the following criteria:
Relevance of proposal      - 30%
Creativity of proposal        - 30%
Cost of implementation    - 20%
Sustainability of project    - 10%
Ease of implementation   - 10%
Total                                     - 100%
