25th anniversary of Oogachaga in 2024
In marking our 25th anniversary in 2024, we look back at our history in different ways.
Back in 2016, as part of the installation Queer Objects: an archive for the future, Singaporean artist Loo Zihan reached out to various members of the local queer community, included Oogachaga staff and volunteers, to assemble objects that will be representative of a hypothetical Singaporean queer archive. The following are some of the objects that had links to Oogachaga and our parents organisation, SPACES Counselling and Community.
The local podcast “Semua Kita” interviewed Bryan Choong, Oogachaga board chair, inaugural centre manager and former executive director, where he talks about the early days of Oogachaga volunteers and staff running community services: support groups, telephone hotline, online chatrooms, and professional counselling service.
Throughout 2024, we ran a series of social media posts called “25 things to know about Oogachaga”, which highlighted facts and snippets of information from our history.
