We have a small team comprising full-time professionals, supported by teams of trained and dedicated volunteers. The organisation is headed by an Executive Director, who reports to the Board of Directors.

Alexander Teh

Counsellor

Pronouns: he, him

Alex started his work at Oogachaga as the organisation’s first-ever youth worker in 2020, and graduated from Monash University with a Master of Counselling in 2022. Since then, Alex has worked extensively with LGBTQ+ clients in his clinical practice, most of whom are youth who are working through various presenting issues. These include depression and anxiety, stress, and trauma from abuse. Alex also supports clients who are exploring their sexuality and/or gender identity, which may include exploring processes of coming out and transitioning.

Prior to his work at Oogachaga, Alex was an active volunteer with The Purple Alliance for six years, running a social group for transgender and gender-diverse people in Singapore called Trans* it! Alex uses queer- and trans-affirming therapeutic approaches in his sessions, and his clinical practice is strongly informed by elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and person-centred therapy. Most recently, Alex’s progress in his career has been marked with the completion of a course in providing clinical supervision.

As a gay transgender man himself, Alex is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and collaborative environment to facilitate his clients’ growth and healing. He is a strong believer that all his clients are innately resilient, competent individuals who are capable of the change they want to see in themselves, and strives to empower each of them to be confident, healthy, and happy individuals who lead fulfilling lives.
