At Oogachaga Community Services, we believe that queer-affirming practice should be a cornerstone of how services are provided to all LGBTQ+ people, and are committed to this across all our work, which includes counselling and support services, engaging with community partners and corporate stakeholders, and conducting professional training talks and workshops.

Together with Queer Therapists of Singapore, a professional community for queer and ally therapists in Singapore, we have articulated what queer-affirming therapy means in our local context in Singapore’s first-ever Queer-Affirming Therapy Code of Practice. This is a professional code of practice for working with queer and trans clients, informed by internationally recognised best practice and the perspectives of other local community organisations working with queer and trans people. This Code was officially shared with the public on 10 October 2026.

Not only have we adopted the Code in our practice, as one of the organisations involved in developing it, we also see the Code as part of a wider effort to strengthen queer-affirming practice across Singapore. The Code can help empower clients to make informed choices about their care, while helping practitioners and organisations put queer-affirming therapy into action and communicate their approach with clients.

We invite clients, practitioners, organisations, and members of the public to find out more about the Code, and, if you are in a place to do so, to consider adopting it in your own work.
