Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Stakeholder Submissions by Oogachaga (4th cycle, 2026)
The UPR is a United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council mechanism aimed at improving the human rights situation on the ground of each of the 193 UN Member States. Under this unique mechanism, each Member State undergoes a review of its human rights record every 5 years.
Civil society and non-governmental organizations can participate in the process by submitting stakeholder reports to the UN ahead of the UPR. This is not the first time Oogachaga and Pink Dot SG participated in the UPR. Previous joint stakeholder submissions were made for Singapore’s 2nd and 3rd cycles, in June 2015 and October 2020 respectively, covering a range of issues that impact the LGBTQ+ community in Singapore.
In October 2025, Oogachaga, Pink Dot SG and Project X collaborated and made a joint submission. Another joint submission focussing on employment and workplace-related issues was made with Same But Different. Both reports can be downloaded below. This is leading up to the United Nations Human Rights Council 4th cycle UPR of Singapore at its upcoming 52nd session on 12 May 2026 from 2.30pm (Geneva time). You can watch it live on United Nations Web TV.
