About the service This is Singapore’s only dedicated Whatsapp counselling services provided by trained volunteers for the LGBTQ+ community. These confidential services provide an active listening ear and emotional support for people who would like to share about issues troubling them, such as sexuality, identity, relationships, mental health and sexual health. We also provide information on LGBTQ+ community resources and LGBTQ-affirming professional resources. All staff members and volunteers are expected to abide by the Oogachaga Code of Ethics.

The Whatsapp counselling service was launched in 2013. Chats are handled by a team of specially-trained LGBTQ+ and LGBTQ-affirming volunteers who will ensure the confidentiality of every call. The team is supported by experienced staff and volunteers, and everyone is expected to adhere to our Code of Ethics for volunteers.

Who we serve As a queer-affirming counselling service based in Singapore with limited resources, we would like to prioritise our support for the following client groups:

  • Clients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer or gender-diverse (LGBTQ+); or

  • Clients facing LGBTQ-related issues (including parents, spouses & family members of LGBTQ+ persons); and

  • Clients residing in Singapore & neighbouring countries (Malaysia, Indonesia & Brunei). Do add the Singapore dialling code +65 when contacting us from overseas. Or you can use our email counselling service too.

Please note We apologise for the following:

  • Services are unavailable outside publicised hours

  • WhatsApp service is only able to accept text messages, not voice or video calls

  • We are unable to receive SMS text messages through the WhatsApp service
