YOUth Programme

In late 2020, an online community survey called “Oogachaga Needs YOUth” was conducted to analyse the needs of LGBTQ+ youth aged 16 to 29 in Singapore, and identify how Oogachaga could meet those needs. More than 500 valid responses were received.

As a result, the YOUth Programme was launched in 2021. Currently, the two key components of the programme are:

Kopi/ Teh: Milo (Gao) Launched in April 2021 as Kopi/Teh Hangouts, Kopi/Teh: Milo (GAO) is the third run of these semi-structured sessions run by Oogachaga youth volunteers, covering themes close to the hearts of LGBTQ+ youth aged between 16 and 29 in Singapore. After being hosted online for two years, Kopi/Teh: Milo (GAO) has now set up shop in Vanilla Room (our cosy attic space) and hosts young LGBTQ+ folks on the last Friday evening of each month. Want to join us? Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@oogachaga) for details of future hangouts, so you can chope (reserve) your seat! Kampung Kiki "A kiki is a party for calming all your nerves" (Scissor Sisters, 2012). Kampung Kiki (kampung = village in Malay) has been run by Oogachaga youth volunteers since mid-2022 as a space for LGBTQ+ youth aged between 16 and 29 to meet and mingle through activities, food, drinks, and conversation. Hosted in Vanilla Room (our cosy attic space), Kampung Kiki hosts a diversity of queer youth on the second Saturday afternoon of each month. In 2022, the Oogachaga YOUth program launched “Let’s Talk About Sex!”, a sexual health survey of LGBTQ+ youth aged between 16 and 29 years old in Singapore. The survey received more than 400 responses about participants’ sexual health knowledge, sexual behaviour, and sexual health practices. You can read more by clicking on the image below.
